About the Artist

The Artist Painting

Matthew Marchant

Matthew has enjoyed drawing since an early age. He attended the Master’s Academy of Fine Arts through high school and studied art at Georgia Highlands College. The artist has been awarded for his paintings in the North Georgia State Fair. He currently has artwork displayed at Olive Tree & Vine in Cartersville, GA.

Matthew is well versed in still life and landscape painting, yet his passion is for portraiture. He revels in the challenge of capturing the likeness of his sitter.

The artist is particularly interested in 19th Century portraiture; he has copied paintings by artists such as Philip de László, William-Adolphe Bouguereau, and Vermeer. By copying Old Masters, Matthew brings classical approaches and techniques to his own paintings.
